Richard B. Cheney, prominent public servant and businessman, is the vice president. Cheney known as a popular figure on the scene of Washington politics, worked with four presidents from the US. George W. Bush is the fourth. Bush selected Cheney as his vice presidential running mate in July 2000, citing Cheney's expertise and wisdom. Dick Cheney is a former chief of the staff of the President. He also was a member of Congress and was Secretary of Defense. Both Republicans and Democrats appreciate his honesty and integrity. Cheney believes that his job within the Bush administration is to be an open and discrete adviser. Cheney is adamant in accepting his role as Republican vice president that he would like to serve with a presidential candidate who is willing to be a cross-partisan collaborator and work with their political adversaries with kindness and with a common goal. Richard Bruce Cheney, son of Richard Herbert Cheney & Marjorie Lauraine Dickey was born on January 30, 1941 at Lincoln Nebraska. When he was 13 years old, he emigrated along with his parents into Casper located in western state of Wyoming and his father ran the local district of soil conservation for the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
